Welcome to the Ecopath Consortium
Welcome to the Ecopath Consortium
We are a collaborative network dedicated to advancing the use of Ecopath with Ecosim to progress Ecosystem-Based Management through scientific research, policy integration, technical innovation, and comprehensive training.
Our mission is to contribute to the sustainability of living resources and ecosystems by developing, applying, teaching, and promoting Ecopath with Ecosim (EwE) modelling and analytical tools. We aim to provide robust and reliable tools, evidence, and advice that supports the sustainable management of natural resources.
The Ecopath Research and Development Consortium was established in Vancouver, Canada, in October, 2011. The Consortium is a global, cooperative network focused on the research, development and sustainability of the Ecopath with Ecosim (EwE) approach and software, its information basis, and complementary activities and capabilities. The Consortium is a non-commercial activity that is operated on a not for profit basis.
Membership to the Consortium is open to any institute or enterprise interested in supporting the Consortium activities and goals as stated above, and requires signing a non-binding Letter of Intent (LoI) to express the voluntary incentive to support the Consortiums research and development. Please contact the consortium if you want to receive further information about the Consortium or you want to become a member.
The consortium is composed of registered members and is structured to ensure effective governance and operations, guided by an Executive Board and supported by three key committees.
Oversees the development and refinement of EwE models, maintains scientific standards, provides technical support, and fosters collaboration among scientists.
Standardizes student evaluations, certifies training materials, coordinates training schedules, develops programs for ecologically knowledgeable programmers, and evaluates the impact of training initiatives.
Engages with decision-makers, promotes the use of EwE models in policy, facilitates practical applications, collects feedback, and builds capacity among policymakers and resource managers.
